We are delighted to welcome these new members of our school family and look forward to getting to know you all better. A big thank you to Miss Henry for her hard work processing the paperwork to ensure everyone was able to start on time!

This week we are doing a paper copy of the newsletter for all parents. If you do not receive an emailed copy also, please ensure the Office has your email address on file. (Some of our newest enrolments may not be loaded yet). The newsletter is also posted to our school Facebook Page – look for the School Logo (not the generically produced page).

Further Enrolments/New Entrants 2017

We could use your help please! It is very important we have a good idea of numbers of students who intend to enrol at our school throughout the rest of the year – mainly New Entrants. We want to be able to prepare for them and make sure our staffing is appropriate. To do this, it helps to know sooner, rather than later, that they intend to join us. Please encourage any parents you may know who intend to send their children here to phone or drop in to the School Office to pick up one of our Enrolment Packs. We are happy to talk with prospective parents and show them around. Thanks for your support!

Stationery

A huge thank you for the smooth start to the year with school stationery. Parents seemed to enjoy the flexibility, with excellent feedback from those who had purchased through Office Max also. Please, if your child still does not have stationery at school, we require this asap.

Beach Meet and Greet

You will have hopefully received information on this from your child. Rather than run a “Meet the Teacher” this year, we decided that we actually need to “Meet Each Other”, and build some relationships around your child. Teachers will be by the main carpark, Snells Beach Rd, from 5:30pm Thursday 9 Feb. There will be Juicies (ice blocks) for all SBS children available from their teachers. Additional Juicies will be on sale for $2, and BBQ Sausages for $2.50.

Please note: it is a 7:00pm high tide, although the school will NOT be providing supervision for swimming, families may choose to swim themselves.

Please remember your “Parent Homework” so we can get to know your children even better.

Swimming Programmes

You will note in the “School Diary” that our swimming programes for Years 1/2 and 5/6 kick off in Week 3. Please make sure that the children are prepared with togs, towel, sunscreen, sunhats, food, a big drink, and suitable shoes for walking to the beach on those days.

For those new to the school – our Year 3/4 students having swimming lessons in the College Pool with Aquakids instructors during Term 4.

Guitar Lessons

You will have hopefully seen through our school Facebook page or email that we are pleased to announce Dianne Morgan will be taking guitar lessons after school this year, starting next WEDNESDAY. Lessons will be held in Nikau 2, and will be 45mins long.

Due to an extremely high level of interest already she is looking at changing the structure slightly and adding an extra class.

5-7 year olds 3:15pm-3:45pm (30 minute class for $5)

another beginner class 3:45pm-4:30pm for 8-11 year olds (45 minutes for $7.50)

intermediate class after that at 4:30-5:15pm (45 minutes for $7.50)

Max of 12 people, (but usually 5 – 10), plus $5 photocopying fee per term. Students provide their own clearfile.
