Tēnā Koutou, Talofa Lava, Malo e Lelei, Namaste, Ni sa bula, Noaia’e mauri, Fakalofa lahi atu, Kia Orana, Ni Hao, An Nyung Ha Sai Yo, Nay Ho, Hej, Hallo, Sawat Dee, Cześć, Goeie Dag, សួស្តី, Здравствуйте, hola, 안녕하세요Greetings to our school families.

We are exceedingly fortunate to live in a part of the world that is both peaceful and beautiful, and where we can head to the polls with different visions for New Zealand, change the government without violence, and still come together the next morning to watch the All Blacks do their thing. In the words of Fred Dagg, “We don’t know how lucky we are.”

We wait, along with everyone else to see the changes that are brought into education and our school system in light of the recent change of government. Once again, I reflect on the need for education to be apolitical – to operate outside of political parties, so that we can keep building momentum, rather than swinging in different directions every few years. We will see what the future holds.

On a positive note, Term 4 is building momentum, and there is much to look forward to, starting next week. Please keep an eye on the school diary below, and make sure you are keeping connected for updates via either email, SBS social media (Instagram or Facebook), or via our app – details are at the end of this newsletter.

Ngā mihi nui,

Kathryn Ramel

Puppet Show for Middle School

Last week the Middle School were privileged to watch The Boy With Wings, a puppet show put on by Birdlife productions. The story was about a boy who followed his dreams. As well as the amazing set changes, puppetry and music, the students learnt a lot about the kuaka/ godwits and their incredible journey to Alaska and back.
There were many questions afterwards as well as comments such as “that was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!”
