It’s been a rockin’ start to the term with music ranging from KISS to Bruno Mars coming out of our school hall. The first dress rehearsal was met with great excitement yesterday, and reassuringly, was a huge success. We are really proud of all our performers, the efforts of our teachers, and the guidance of Director Neels. Everyone is looking forward to showing our skills to real live audiences next week – see you there!

In not so exciting news, I have been told that the start of the sub-division being developed over the road from the school is imminent. This will have an impact on us, mainly as traffic is increased with construction vehicles and the like. Please drive carefully, and where possible, encourage your children to walk to school either using the Dawson Rd Crossing (so they will be on the opposite side of the road from the development), or via the Foster Crescent pathway.

Finally, we apologise for the look of our school fields and grass areas at present. The mower will quite simply sink, they are so water-logged! We are hoping for some more fine weather to break the long rainy spell, and dry everything out enough that we can tidy things up, and reclaim our land!

Nga mihi,

Kathryn Ramel

Principal

History Rocks! – School Production

History Rocks Poster Rev-page-001We are delighted that our much anticipated school production has been an evening sellout! There are still some tickets available for the Matinee performance 1pm Tuesday, so see Miss Henry in the office for tickets.

A reminder the PTA will be selling sausages, baking and other nibbles from 5:30pm, which is the same time all children need to be dropped at school to get costumes and make up ready. Evening performances start at 6:30pm, with doors opening at 6:00pm.

We appreciate that the later nights may mean some tired performers (especially with our younger students), and we are happy for them to have a sleep in, and arrive during morning tea, at 10:30am on Thursday and Friday if it helps.

Introducing our Board of Trustees – Kim Love

Kim LoveNick, my husband, and I moved into the area five years ago so we could be closer to family but also because we wanted our children to have the chance to enjoy a small town lifestyle and interact regularly with all of the area’s natural bounty. We consider ourselves very lucky that the beaches, the parks, and the playgrounds are an everyday part of how we get to experience the world. Our close knit community has so much to be proud of and we are delighted to be part of it.

It is an honour to serve on the Snells Beach School board of trustees so thank you very much for the opportunity.  We have lovely facilities her at Snells Beach School which are made even better by the exceptional and experienced staff that care for our kids every day under the dedicated and inspired leadership of Kathryn Ramel. None of this is possible without the active support from you, the committed and caring parent/care giver community and the passionate, vibrant, and committed army of volunteers who donate their time and expertise to give our students extra tuition and guidance in all areas of school life. Thank you all so much for your continuing care and commitment as it all works together to create space and opportunity for our children to develop into all that they are meant to be.

The Great Snells Trail is coming….and all we need is an hour of your time!

The Great Snells Trail is taking place again this year on Saturday 19 November and festivities are taking place at the school from 10am-2pm. A roster will be put up at the school hall next Monday and we need every family to sign up for an hour (or more please!) to help the PTA make this event as amazing as possible. We will need helpers with food stalls and running kids games, no experience necessary!

Little Doves Photography has uploaded all of the Snells Beach School Photos to the online album!

To access the album follow this link:

https://littledovesphotography.shootproof.com/snells

Then use your email address and the following password to enter the album: beach

Within the album you will find separate folders. If you requested sibling photos, you will find these in the sibling folder, along with portraits of any children who are not currently at Snells Beach School. All of the individual school portraits are in your child’s class folder.

To order prints, simply click on the image you like, and use the ‘buy photo’ button on the top right of your screen. Several print options will show on your screen, as well as digital media, canvas and laminated group options.

For packages, click ‘show discounts’ and you can choose your favourite images, mix and match colour and black & white photos, and put together your own package.

The Graduation Class has a separate folder, as we have created a special Graduation Print. To order this print, choose your preferred portrait of your child from the graduation class folder, and use the ‘buy photo’ button on the top right of your screen. You will then see an option for ‘laminated group’. The Graduation Print is the 8x12inch, $20 print, and your child’s individual portrait will be used in place of the portrait of Alice Brooker that is currently in the example.

All orders will be collated and printed once the album closes on October 31st, and delivered to Snells Beach School a week later.

School Pasifika Evening

What a beautiful evening it was last night to have our Pasifika families gather at school, to share a meal together, get to know each other, make connections, and learn about their children’s learning. We have a growing number of Pasifika families joining our school community, and we encourage our students to be proud of, and celebrate their diverse cultural heritage. Well done to our teachers with a special passion in this area, who organised a great event: Mrs Spittal, Mrs Gore, Mrs Young, Mrs Mackay and Mr Morley.

School Uniform Stitching

It has been brought to our attention that there is an issue with some of the seams on the school uniform t-shirts, and that the stitching has been coming undone easily. It appears to have affected one particular batch. The problem has been corrected at the manufacturers end, but they are also happy to resew items where this error has occurred. Please see us at the office if you would like us to pass on any items.

After School Care Notice for next week only:
