DSCN4533 (7)I was incredibly proud of our School Production last week, History Rocks, both of our amazing children, and the team effort from our staff behind it. We believe in giving children the chance to experience and shine in as wider range of contexts as possible, and they certainly did! A huge thank you to Mrs Neels for her role as Director.

It was quite upsetting to experience our first ever significant vandalism last weekend. Luckily the damage done was primarily to the field and fences, rather than our teaching and learning spaces. Thank you to the many parents who have expressed their concern, and to Donald Bayer and Shaun Steffener for popping in to offer their expertise. We were blown away that Wharehine dropped by yesterday to roll out the dangerous ruts in our field for free! Thanks guys!  wharehine

Lastly, on behalf of all of the team here at school, I would like to pass on our most sincere thanks to the amazing parents and friends of the school who do so much to support us. We have been humbled after learning that a group of people have arranged to gift us weekly morning teas. When we asked for help returning the microphones after production, people came forward straight away (thanks especially to Carla!). We have been reminded that we are not just part of a great school, but a special community. We truly appreciate it.

Nga mihi,

Kathryn Ramel

The Great Snells Trail is coming….and all we need is an hour of your time!

The Great Snells Trail is taking place again this year on Saturday 19 November and festivities are taking place at the school from 10am-2pm. The PTA have put a roster list up in the school office and in the hall. Please, can you help for an hour?? Add your name to the list when you are at school, or email kramel@snellsbeach.school.nz. Also, there is a PTA meeting next Weds 2 Nov at 7:30 in the staffroom to assist with planning. All welcome (…and they often have wine and chocolate as well)Gala Pic

Wacky Wednesday Year 5 Camp Mangawhai Fundraiser

Wednesday was a fun day this week, with everyone enjoying showing a bit of individuality through their mufti flair, and the Year 5’s running a great lunchtime disco. A big thank you to Mrs Williamson & Mr Chapman for their organisation on the day. A special mention must go to Kauri Morrison & his team of dancers on the stage for teaching us all some new moves!

A reminder: Little Doves Photography has uploaded all of the Snells Beach School Photos to the online album!

Middle School Swimming Lessons

Our Middle Team of Year 3 and 4 students have started their annual swimming lessons with the Aquakidz instructors in the Mahurangi College Pool. It was a fun session and a number of the students commented on how much they enjoyed working with their instructors. We believe that this small group targeted instruction gives the kids an excellent boost – too many Kiwis drown each year, and we value kids learning to swim.

A reminder – Calendar Art orders are due in shortly.

Your child should have brought home a copy of their Calendar Art design this week – please contact the classroom teacher if for whatever reason you didn’t receive one. Calendar Art Orders close next Friday 4 November.

washingmachine2Are you a secret Washing Fairy?

We are looking for a helpful friend of the school who wouldn’t mind doing some of our weekly washing for us (mainly tea towels & sick bay sheets). If you are able to help out, please contact Miss Henry in the Office.
