It is hard to believe that it is Week 9 of Term 3 already. We have already packed in so much to this Term on top of all the amazing teaching and learning going on in the classrooms. Year 5 Camp, Speech Finals, Cricket Coaching with Liam Jones from Northern Cricket and as you may have already noticed, Harold the Giraffe from the Life Education trust. Bring back any memories?

No time to slow down though  as we are already preparing for another Term packed full with fun and learning. Here are a few things to look forward to…

      • Athletics Day Week 2
      • Year 3 and 4 Swimming at Mahu College
      • Year 0-2  and 5-6 Swimming at Snells Beach
      • Firewise for Year 0-2

And if that is not enough we’ll be winding up with Christmas Carols and Prizegiving. Information outlining these events will be put out early Term 4.

What I have to say is that at Snells Beach School we are very lucky to have amazing , hard-working , caring and dedicated Teachers, Teacher Aides, Office staff and Caretaker; that have committed their working lives to work with your children.  As we go into the school holidays after next week please keep safe and ensure that you get some rest for the busy term ahead.

Noho ora mai

Stay well, look after yourself, good bye.

Interschool Speech Finals

Our 3 amazing speakers representing SBS at the Interschool Speech competition did us all so very proud. Speaking loudly and clearly, with excellent poise and control of nerves, Eva M, Levi P and Kiki E did exceptionally well. Well done to all 3.

Epro8 Engineering Competition

Last week our enrichment group Engineers took part in the Northpower Epro8 Interschool Challenge. The teams had a wonderful time and we were so proud of their achievements, coming in 2nd and 4th place. Good luck to Milly C, Eva M, Kayden C and David W who are taking part in the Semi-final today at Pasadena Intermediate School in Pt Chevalier.

Milly C wrote this report of the experience:

On the 15th of September, two groups of four went to Glenfield intermediate to compete in an engineering competition, for years 5-6.When we first walked in there were workstations set up for each team.  My team decided to build a motorised alarm and clock. Once we read through the instructions we started to build we were the last to start, after we finished the first steps we pressed the red button that was above our workstation and music played, the judge came over and checked it we got around 50 points putting us in the lead. We quickly worked our way through the tasks, still placing first, and soon enough we only had an hour left of the challenge. Some of the opposition teams had changed their minds and changed the challenge they were working on but we hadn’t.

Suddenly there was ten minutes left. We were on the last step but we had to use the time delay tool which we hadn’t used before. We were very confused. And then time was up he came around and did a final check before we all started to pack up. We hoped one of the Snells Beach teams would come in the top three but we were doubtful, then the host read out the top three groups and we came second! We were all very happy and proud.

Inter School Cross Country

In the last newsletter, we made a mistake and didn’t mention that Bryn Hann came 6th place in the Year 0/1 Boys division of the Inter School Cross Country. Well done Bryn!

Hibiscus Coast Cross Country

This week we had seven Year 5 and 6 runners who made it into the Rodney Combined Team in the Hibiscus Coast Cross Country competition. Our runners had a great day at a challenging Shakespear Regional Park location and the Rodney Year 5 Boys and Girls Relay teams managed to get the win! Well done Levi P, Ollie E, Jayden P, Hunter S, Saskia P, Kyden M, Zoey B and Kobe B
