DSCN4530 (2)Tena Kotou Katoa, Talofa, MauriGreetings to our school families.

Hello everybody. The end of the term is almost here. I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful well deserved Easter break for both the teachers and the students, with those gorgeous Autumn mornings. Who would have thought we would still be swimming at the end of March! I would like to thank the parents who helped with the Have a Go Sailing that the Year 5 and 6 students had just recently. The weather was not kind to us, especially for Nikau 1, but those that did manage to go sailing had a fun if not hair raising time. Disappointingly the Year 2 Tabloid Sports was also cancelled due to bad weather. Bus money has been refunded to students as cash. If you paid this electronically please see Miss Henry in the office .

Our Goal sharing afternoon is coming up next Friday afternoon from 2-3pm. Please mark this date in your diary. This will happen in the classrooms. Please come to spend some quality time with your children so that they can share what their goals are in their reading, writing and maths. This is a good opportunity for you to find out what your children really want to improve on, and to find out what progress they feel they have made in their learning. I feel student voice is very important alongside parental and teacher views, and this is their time to speak. We hope as many of you as possible will come to join us on this day.

Many of you will have heard in the media about the new Health & Safety Act. This comes into force today. Please be assured that the Board and the staff take the health and safety of your children very seriously. We are in the process of renewing First Aid certificates for our staff, and have a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan in place for the school. The Board is also currently in the process of reviewing all of our Health & Safety Policies especially regarding school camps.

Here’s hoping the good weather continues right to the end of the term. I wonder who escaped April 1st without too many pranks.  Have a great weekend.

School washing

I would like to thank Mrs Kelly Church for once again taking charge of our school washing this term. This is a great help to the school and Miss Henry. Each week there is a small amount of washing from the sickbay and the staffroom. Kelly will no longer be able to do this for us from next term. Please if there is another kind person out there who wishes to do a community service and help us out with this for Term 2 we would love to hear from you. Please contact Miss Henry in the office.
