Tēnā Koutou, Talofa Lava, Malo e Lelei, Namaste, Ni sa bula, Noaia’e mauri, Fakalofa lahi atu, Kia Orana, Ni Hao, An Nyung Ha Sai Yo, Nay Ho, Hej, Hallo, Sawat Dee, Cześć, Goeie Dag, សួស្តី, Здравствуйте, Hola, Ola, 안녕하세요, Ayubowan, Vanakkam. Greetings to our school families.
We had a fantastic turnout for our “Tough Stuff” presentation with Kylie Ryan last week—well over 70 parents attended. It was a valuable opportunity to learn together about how we can best support our tamariki, giving them the tools to navigate some of life’s big stages and changes. I appreciated the balance Kylie struck between sharing practical information and allowing space for you to reflect on how these ideas might work for your whānau. It’s always powerful when home and school are on the same page.
Thank you to everyone who has already completed the Whānau Health Consultation. This will close on Monday, so if you haven’t yet taken part, now’s your last chance. The results will be shared with the new Board and with our parent community in the next newsletter. Parents of students in Years 5 and 6—please keep an eye out for detailed information about the upcoming Pubertal Change lessons later this term.
Finally, please check your emails for information on voting in our Board of Trustees Election. Huge thanks to the brave souls who have “put their heads above the parapet” and put themselves forward for election. Our Board has been hard-working and dedicated over the past few years, and many members are now stepping down as their children move on from the school. I’ll thank them in more detail in the next newsletter, but I do want to acknowledge our past Chair, Hannah Edwards, for her eight years of support, and Leteisha Morris for her six years. Thank you both for the significant—though often unseen—impact you have had on our school.
Ngā mihi nui,
Kathryn Ramel
Principal

Our First “Strictly Jump Jam” Entry
We are incredibly lucky to have Bridgette White, dance teacher extraordinaire, working with a group of students in preparation for the Auckland “Strictly Jump Jam” Competition. This has been hugely popular – so much so, that we have limited participation to Year 6 students, but promised other levels that we will commit to this in future years, so they get a go too! The teachers who have had a “sneak peak” have been a bit blown away by the group’s progress. There will be a performance in assembly after the competition, so everyone can appreciate the work they have put in. We are very thankful to Matt and Bridgette at Whites Carpentry for sponsoring this opportunity for our kids – get in touch for all your carpentry and construction needs on whitescarpentryltd@gmail.com.

Keeping in touch – communication is key
Keeping in touch is important. We need to be able to contact whānau quickly and efficiently. If you have changed address or contact details, please let us know asap, either via email admin@snellsbeach.school.nz, or by calling the school office 09 425 6058.
- Following our school Facebook page or Instagram
“Snells Beach School”, which operate as a digital newsletters. This is a great way to get quick updates and reminders. We post reminders and notices on Facebook – Instagram is more quick updates and snapshots of school life
- Downloading our School App
Simply download the “Skool Loop” app from either App Store or Play Store & select “Snells Beach School” from the drop down box to receive instant notifications & reminders. This is an effective way to get immediate notices – they will pop up direct to your phone. Mahurangi College use the same app which is useful – just use the drop down box to change schools.
- Subscribing to our school email database
Please email us admin@snellsbeach.school.nz to be added to the list. If you do not receive this newsletter via email on Friday afternoon, you are NOT in our database. All new families should have been added – please check. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- School Newsletters
We do not usually print newsletters– just the first one each term while people update their contact details if needed. They are emailed out or linked to our school Facebook page. School newsletters come out once a fortnight – teachers may send home additional class or team messages at other times.
