Tēnā Koutou, Talofa Lava, Malo e Lelei, Namaste, Ni sa bula, Noaia’e mauri, Fakalofa lahi atu, Kia Orana, Ni Hao, An Nyung Ha Sai Yo, Nay Ho, Hej, Hallo, Sawat Dee, Cześć, Goeie Dag, សួស្តី, Здравствуйте, hola. Greetings to our school families.

A big thank you to everyone who has been so welcoming as I returned from leave this week. I just wanted to acknowledge the crew here at SBS who did such an amazing job of steering the ship in my absence, especially Trent Morley.
I have just watched our Year 6 students hop on the bus to head to Mahurangi College for an Orientation Day. I remember so many of those faces as New Entrants here at SBS, and while I’m excited for them to head off on the next step of their journey, it’s also a reminder of how fast time flies by in the primary years. It is truly important to make every moment count.
And so, we are now fully in the swing of Term 4 preparations – truly one of the craziest, but best times of the year to be in a school. Monitors trips, school picnics, Prize Givings, Year 6 Graduation, Testing & Report Writing, Christmas Concerts……there’s a lot on! Please take note of the key dates for end of the year events – we do realise what a busy time it is for people.

Ngā mihi,

Kathryn Ramel

Principal

Walkathon Final Results

We are so thrilled to announce that the total amount of donations raised by your support of the Walkathon is $13,353.10!!!! This is an amazing total with over a third of our school students raising more than $50 each. One lucky student will win a $100 Warehouse voucher which will be drawn at our assembly today. The funds raised go towards buying much needed literacy resources for our growing school.

Absence Notifications

Every morning our teachers mark the roll and we cross reference this against the absence messages we have received. If we have not heard from you we will send a text message notifying of the absence. This message helps us ensure that all children who are meant to be at school are accounted for however recently we have noticed many parents failing to reply to the message. Please reply to the text with a brief reason for the absence ie. sick, doctor, dentist etc. There are several ways to submit an absence including the school website, phone 09 425-6058 and the Skoolloop app. If you don’t reply, nobody actually knows where your child is: you may assume they are at school, when we think they are home. This has the potential for disaster!

Athletics Days

Excitement was in the air last week as the whole school gathered on the field to watch the sprints. We love being able to do this as a whole school with siblings and friends from different year levels cheering each other on! The middle school and the senior school continued with some other athletics events later in the week and we have a team of Year 4-6’s heading to the Interschool event at Shoesmith next Tuesday.

The World Famous SBS PTA Quiz Night!

The weeks are whizzing by and it is only 2 weeks until our Quiz night. There are still a few tables available if you get in quick. On the night there will be some fabulous silent and live auction items up for grab with more info coming on this next week so you can plan your shopping.
