It is thanks to everybody (and to the fantastic weather), that last week’s Travelwise Week went off smoothly and well.  And what a busy week it was!!!

Many thanks go out to Bridget Farmiloe (our AT Transport Coordinator) and our 6 awesome Travelwise monitors for all of their hard work and enthusiasm throughout the week.

Many thanks also go to the amazing students in  Nikau 1 for running our Wheels Day on Monday – without any injuries, may I add!         A day that always leaves me with a few extra grey hairs!  😉

Thanks go to Constable Bernie Watt who has been taking our students through cycle safety and road safe methods.

Also thanks to Onboard Skate – who have inspired so many children to get on a skateboard. (Am sure a skateboard will be on many birthday wishlists this year – I know it’s on my daughter’s!!)

It was great to see so many of you turn up to our annual Walkathon – an all-time record with the number of students and adults in the final third section of the afternoon.  I love this fundraiser – so simple and fun – AND we’re getting fit at the same time!

Barfoot & Thompson did a fantastic job providing sausages for us all –  so many, many thanks again go out to Dave Prior and his team of workers.

Speaking of record numbers – we had a record number of students coming to and from school a ‘Travelwise Way’ last week.  It would now be great to show how ‘travel-wise’ we really are by doing this every week – not just one week a year.

Parents, let’s continue to make the effort to get our kids out of cars!  Look at how much they enjoyed coming to school last week by foot and by bike, scooter, skateboard and even roller-blades.  We are so lucky at our school to be able to do this  – we should be making the most of every opportunity!!  Let’s continue to keep our school gates as free of vehicles as possible.

Remember – IT’S COOL TO WALK TO SCHOOL!!
