International Students – Studying at Snells Beach School

Snells Beach School is a modern, community-focused primary school located on the beautiful Mahurangi East Peninsula, about 45 minutes north of Auckland via the new Northern Motorway extension. Snells Beach School is a co-educational state school with a medium-sized roll, giving it a balance of strong resources and a close-knit feel.

Teaching children from Year 0 to Year 6, we are dedicated to achieving academic excellence through a curriculum that inspires and challenges students to reach their full potential.

Location and wider area

One of the school’s standout features is its setting, located above Snells Beach itself, with close proximity to the Mahurangi River. This gives students access to a genuinely rich outdoor environment—beaches, bush, and regional parks are all part of everyday life.

The Snells Beach area is a wonderful location for families with young children, often described as semi-rural and coastal, offering a relaxed, family-friendly lifestyle. It’s a popular tourist destination, alongside like Warkworth and Matakana, and benefits from both natural beauty and convenient amenities. The area is also growing, with more families moving in, creating a vibrant and evolving community.

Walking, Scootering, Skating & Cycling

We encourage our students to walk, ride or scooter to school.  Wheels must not be ridden through the school grounds before or after school, and must be stored in the bike & scooter racks next to the senior playground or the juniors racks at the end of the Library. Note: all students on wheels MUST wear helmets.

There is a patrolled crossing on Dawson Road in the mornings and afternoons and a specially constructed walkway into the school across the reserve from the end of Foster Crescent for safe access.
