Book Week Fun

What a fun week we had last week! Reading sets such a solid foundation for which our children to learn upon. We enjoyed celebrating books, and sharing together as teachers read to different classes, teddies were brought in as reading buddies, and there was amazing creativity shown when everyone paraded as their favourite book characters. We were delighted to find that our share of the book sales resulted in $1125 worth of new books for our library.

Inter School Speeches

Our senior students who qualified 1st (Cayden Steffener), 2nd (Macy Ramel-Spain) and 3rd (Finn Gibson) in our own School Speech Competition, went on to represent our school with pride at the recent Inter School Speeches. We were so proud of how they held their nerve, to speak to a room of strangers – a task many adults find scary!

Guitar Concert

The students who take guitar lessons with Dianne Morgan after school here on Wednesdays performed in her recent concert. One student from each class got a most improved prize of a camouflage kite and an Oreo Choc block. Giselle was the recipient in the 5-8 year old class and Bailan in the 8-12 year old class. Carlos was the winner in the Intermediate class. Well done everyone!

Animates School Holiday Programme

School holidays are just around the corner, and for the first time, Animates is partnering with ‘Kids Safe with Dogs’ to provide the perfect activity to help educate children how to behave around dogs.

Your local Animates store will be hosting free seminars at 11am on Thursday 5th and 12th of October. Trained staff will use interactive real life scenarios, using a toy dog, to teach children how to behave around their own dog, and those that they encounter on the street.

Key points will include:

  • How to approach a dog (when tied up, when eating, when in a car etc.)
  • How and where to pat a dog
  • How to make eye contact with a dog including best body language to use
  • Learning the importance of always asking permission before approaching a dog

These sessions will also be beneficial you’re thinking about introducing a fluffy friend to the family.

There will also be the opportunity to ask the in-store experts for advice, and children who complete the workshop will take home a free activity book and certificate to proudly display on their wall or fridge.

Although bookings aren’t necessary, the events are usually well attended so it’s advisable to arrive early.
